Next time you come to our church, take a moment to find the portrait of Venerable Andrey Sheptytsky. Perhaps you might offer a prayer of gratitude for the extraordinary work he did for the Ukrainian people and the Church. Perhaps you might ask for his protection, remembering how tirelessly he defended the weak and the persecuted. Perhaps you might ask for his wisdom, inspired by the remarkable holiness and leadership he showed throughout his life. And perhaps you might also say a prayer for his beatification and canonization.
Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky remains one of the greatest pillars of our Church and our nation. On the 161st anniversary of his birth, let us remember him with gratitude and unite in prayer.
