St. Jude Thaddeus
With God, nothing is ever truly hopeless. Where there is God, there is faith, and where there is faith, there is always hope.
Last Friday we celebrated St. Jude, the brother of the Lord, also known as St. Jude Thaddeus. He was not the actual brother of Jesus, but a relative of His family. He is the patron saint of hopeless situations.
St. Jude reminds us that there is no circumstance beyond the reach of God’s mercy and that we cannot give up even when hope feels distant. In moments of uncertainty, St. Jude points us toward perseverance and prayer — not so that we may avoid struggles, but so that we may have the courage to trust God even when the way forward is not clear.
He reminds us that even in those situations, God is still at work in hidden and mysterious ways, bringing light to places where we can see only darkness. The Feast of St. Jude Thaddeus also reminds us to be a source of hope for others who feel abandoned. We are called to be instruments of God’s encouragement for those who feel overwhelmed.
