Following Christ
“If anyone wishes to come after me, he must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me.” (Mark 8:34)
Who do you follow, and where will that path lead you? In today’s world, we have countless people to follow, from politicians to social media stars. Following them can increase their influence, and it can also feed our own egos and desires. Christ calls us to follow Him in a different way. He gave Himself for us and demonstrated, time and again, what it means to serve others. By following His example, we too are called to give ourselves in service to others. He calls each of us to holiness. When we follow Christ, we bring His values of love and self-sacrifice into our lives. He leads us from selfishness to love, from fear to trust, from sin to forgiveness, and from death to life. Following Christ helps us become the people God created us to be.
