May we be transfigured into the image of Christ

During today’s Feast of the Transfiguration, the Church invites us to ascend the mountain with Christ. Let us leave behind the noise of everyday life and the troubles that weigh down our hearts, and come with Him to be transformed. God’s presence and light make us want to remain there forever, just as the disciples wanted to stay on the mountain with Jesus.

Yet Jesus calls us not only to be transformed by His light, but also to return to our daily responsibilities. After each Holy Communion, we are sent back into our lives with greater love for those around us.

No matter where we are in life — on the mountaintop, experiencing God’s presence, or in the valley, where we struggle to hear His voice — let us always pray for the gift of hope and never lose faith. May we, day by day, be transfigured into the image of Christ.
